The
NZ Golf
Management Development Programme 2006
..........for
Club Managers and Course Superintendents
The New
Zealand Sports Turf Industry Training Organisation (NZSTITO) is now
accepting registrations for the 2006 NZ Golf Management Development
Programme. Course information is outlined in the enclosed brochure.
Over the past three years this programme has provided a foundation of
relevant and practical information that has proved invaluable at all
levels of club operations and management.
What
participants say about the course……
“The
Golf Management Development Programme is a first-rate educational plan
for anybody involved in the management of a golf club. The subjects are
all applicable to any business, but the tutors have tailored everything
to the business of a golf club. This has been applied to such things as
how to market a golf club, how to attract members, how to keep your
members, what to pay course staff who come in for 2 hours on a public
holiday, and how to plan ahead for a golf club. I have just completed
the Diploma (second year) course, and I am equipped with so much
information that is ready for me to apply to my club. The benefits of
the programme for clubs and their managers are simply enormous”.
Russell
Hill – President, Golf Managers Association
Having been a Course
Superintendent for ten years at Akarana Golf Club I was looking for a
greater challenge in my career. The Golf Management Development
Programme provided me with the tools to further my career. The relaxed
learning environment and peer support made the course interesting and
informative. Having not being in the educational environment for some
time the tutors on the course made it easy to understand and supported
you through the entire programme. I would recommend this programme to
any person in the golf industry be they on the course or in the
clubhouse as an excellent stepping stone in your career.
Steve Hackett
–
Course Manager / General Manager, Akarana Golf Club
“I
would recommend the MDP to golf club managers. I found the material
relevant and well presented, and the disciplines involved in applying it
to a golf club’s needs most helpful. Of course, there was the added
bonus of meeting other course participants on a regular basis throughout
the year and being able to swap ideas and discuss issues with them. I
expect the programme will improve year on year, to become the
qualification golf clubs will require of their managers”.

Gordon – General Manager, Russley Golf Club, Christchurch
